Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, progressive neurological disorder affecting the central nervous system (CNS), which comprises the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. MS is caused by the immune system mistakenly attacking the protective covering (myelin) surrounding nerve fibres in the CNS. This damage disrupts the normal flow of electrical impulses along the nerves, leading to various symptoms.
